Today's focus interview features Christopher Ridgewell from AW Energy and Speaker at Green Connections 2019. In his speech, Mr. Ridgewell will disuss how Californians could benefit from turning ocean waves into electricity. Read the entire speaker interview below. 

What awoke your interest to pursue a career working in sustainability? 
As a naval architect I’ve been following wave energy for many years. When I got to know WaveRoller technology in 2013 I felt that I had found the right technology to enable the world to plug into wave power.
 
What are the key aspects in creating a more sustainable business sector in the forth coming years? 
Overcome seasonal gaps in solar and wind by diversifying renewable energy supply and deploy wave energy and other forms of renewables at scale as soon as possible.

Have you observed any fascinating ”renewable trends” in the recent period?
Now young people seem to see the challenge more clearly than before. This will have a profound and long last impact. Also the value of renewable energy that is  out of phase with solar and wind is becoming clearer.

Who has inspired you the most to chose the professional path that you are on?  
Years ago I read “Factor Four” A book published in the 90’s as a report to the Club of Rome: ISBN 1853834076. That inspired me.

Do you have a quote that inspires you? 
IPCC reports provide strong motivation.

What do you hope to learn from being part of Green Connections 2019?  
I’d like to make connections.
