![]() Frida Holm Frida Holm is born and raised in the small town Köping in Sweden, which she left for Stockholm for 9 years, before relocating to San Diego. She received a PhD in Medical Science in 2012 from Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. As a PhD student she was involved in both European (ESTOOLS) and international (International Stem Cell Initiative) consortiums that gave her the opportunity to build a network of leading scientists as well as working together with Nobel Prize winner, Professor Shinya Yamanaka. After graduating she moved to San Diego to start her postdoc and joined a lab at UCSD, where her current research is focusing on pediatric leukemia fully funded by the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation. Frida’s knowledge and extensive expertise within the scientific field will be of great use for the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce. She holds a wide knowledge of the scientific community in both Sweden and the US, as well as a large network of prominent scientist within and outside academia. SACC San Diego is confident that Frida’s background and network will be of great help in establishing and developing a science-based relationship between Sweden and the US. ![]() Nastaran Parvizi Nastaran Parvizi was born in Iran and moved to Sweden at the age of two, where she remained until graduating high school. Nastaran moved to the United States to pursue a career in law, in order to help those in distress recover from unfortunate circumstances. She is Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University. Nastaran was a visiting scholar at Guanghua Law School (Zhejiang University) in Hangzhou, China, studying International Business Transactions and International Intellectual Property. Currently, Nastaran is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the state of California, and serves as the Managing Partner of Duisters & Parvizi, LLP. Her firm primarily practices Estate Planning law, including the formation of wills and trusts, probate administration, trust administration, guardianships, and conservatorships. She also advises various start-up businesses with regards to entity formations, business transactions, and employment/licensing requirements. In joining SACC, Nastaran hopes to contribute to the betterment of the chamber by providing her knowledge in the legal field, as well as making strategic decisions and advising on the various matters brought forth. She takes passion in mentoring young professionals who are looking to better place themselves in a competitive market. ![]() Fabian Wallen Fabian Wallen is the founder and CEO of Wallén Economics – a San Diego-based economic consultancy business. His main focus is economic analysis, policy analysis, and strategic advice, the majority of the company’s clients are European business organizations and multinational companies. Graduating with honors from the University of Stockholm in 2000, with a Masters in Economics, Fabian spent a couple of semesters teaching undergraduate economics. Since then, he has written four books on economics and public policy (in Swedish) and numerous reports and articles on economic analysis and policy analysis (in English and Swedish). Fabian is a seasoned speaker and has given countless presentations on the economic outlook, the economics of globalization, and free-market economics, in places as diverse as Addis Ababa, Baghdad, Brussels, Beijing, Jakarta, Pyongyang, and Stockholm. Before relocating to the United States in 2009, he worked as the senior economic advisor at the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, the largest business organization in Sweden, and as the chief economist at the International Council of Swedish Industry. With his extensive experience in economics, international trade, and policy analysis, with his large international network, and with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, SACC San Diego is confident that he would be a great asset to the Chamber in San Diego.
