SACC-San Diego hosts a number of signature social events throughout the year, offering the Swedish community and our partners a way to nurture their Swedish roots and celebrate cherished Swedish traditions while far from home. Our annual signature cultural events include our Valborg, Crayfish party and Christmas Luncheon. In addition to these the chamber take on other social events like movie screenings and pub-crawls, stay tuned because more events is coming up!
At the beginning of every semester, SACC-San Diego hosts a Pub Crawl. This always turns out to be a fun night out in Pacific Beach for newly arrived students in the San Diego area. Meet up with us, make new friends and enjoy all that Pacific Beach has to offer.
SACC San Diego host a traditional Swedish Crayfish party in late August / beginning of September. It includes all the necessary features, funny hats, drinking songs and a lot of crayfish. Contact us for more information.
The time of the year when we swedes celebrate the arrival of spring. We light the Valborg bonfire and sing songs. For students, Valborg Eve heralds freedom. During this time of the year exams are over and only a few lectures remains before term ends. On the last day of April, the students don their characteristic white caps and sing songs of welcome to spring, to the budding greenery and to a brighter future.
At the end of the year SACC conclude the Swedish celebrations by hosting the annual Christmas Luncheon. An event where we gather around the traditional Swedish courses on the Christmas smorgasbord, cheer for Christmas and enjoy the arrival of St Lucia. Contact us for more information.
