Andreas Jonsson came from Sweden to be a trainee at Anametrix through SACC SD's trainee program. When asked about his trainee position these were his answers.
Why did you choose to do a trainee program in the US?
It all started when I received an email late one evening. I was looking for a job in Sweden but this was a very interesting opportunity. I had an internship a couple years ago in Boston and I felt that i wanted to try it once more. In this case it was at a startup company in California, hard to find a more interesting job.
What have you learnt about the American way of doing business?
I'm working as an engineer at Anametrix and my boss is from Sweden so haven't learned that much about American way of doing business. I have learned a bit about the American culture and it feels like a lot of people live to work instead of work to live.
How do you believe this trainee position has differed from a similar position in Sweden?
I feel it is very hard to find something similar in Sweden. A lot of people that graduated at the same time as me have started to work as consultants. This job gives me the opportunity to work with the latest technique within a field that is growing very fast. One of the last tasks i worked on ended up that we submitted a patent application; it's not every day that happens
In what ways has this trainee program prepared you for an international career?
It's a very good experience to have if i want to continue my international career. Even if we are only about 20 people at the office there are still people from around the world. The engineering team consists of people from Sweden, India, and Russia.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learnt during this trainee program?
That everything is possible. So if you get opportunity to try out a job halfway around the world, take it!
Andreas
