SACC San Diego's Mentorship Program will continue this fall and we are currently looking for both new Mentors with extensive experience from the professional world, as well as enthusiastic students that are eager to learn.
Embracing Experience Exchange
The mentorship program, launched by the Swedish American Chamber of commerce, will focus on linking students and young professionals with established knowledgeable professionals. The program will start in the beginning of September, with an inspiring kick-off event and a lot of good advice.
After the event the Marketing managers will pair one of the students with one of the many successful members of the Chamber and other organizations. The program will give the student a chance to learn from someone who has already "been there, done that", and give the members additional opportunities to network and to receive career advice. In addition, the program includes interpersonal support, guidance, mutual experience exchange, coaching and role modeling.
Mentors and mentees will preferably meet six times during a three-month period. The first meeting will generally focus on an introduction of the mentor and at the second meeting the focus will be on the mentee. The remaining meetings will be utilized to discuss areas of particular interest and benefit for both parties. Activities may include but are not limited to
- Networking
- Sharing ideas
- Touring a company or work site
- Attending professional meetings
- Reviewing resumes
- Discussing career strategies.
If you are interested in being a part of the Program, please contact the SACC San Diego office or email us at: agustafsson@sacc-sandiego.org.
Mentorship Program Mission statement
Our mission is to promote a mutual exchange of ideas and experiences between mentors and mentees. The Mentorship Program provides its participants with excellent opportunities for entrepreneurial ventures and career success.
“The best thing about giving of ourselves is that what we get is always better than what we give. The reaction is greater than the action.”
