Safelist Venture’s mission is to build a web community that enables its members to participate in all types of activities-trade, commerce or social-free from fear and suspicion. Mr. Karim Pirani, who launched his first online venture at the dawn of the Internet age, founded the company.  From 1988-1994 he ran a boutique advertising company that catered to fashion companies in New York. In 1994 he founded one of the earliest online shopping portals, Cyberspaced.com.

From 1997-2001, he ran Synergic Investment Management, an offshore hedge fund that was an early investor in many young Internet companies that are household names today. Karim took an early retirement and moved to Toronto, Canada, but in 2005, the lure of living in California brought him to San Diego where about 2 years ago he came out of his short-lived retirement to start SafeList.com.

The Internet today is like the Wild West.You never know who is hiding behind their web browser. Most transactions on websites like Amazon and Ebay do not require a physical meeting between buyers and sellers, with PayPal ensuring a smooth transaction; but people still tend to be hyper-guarded.

In contrast, most transactions made via online classifieds sites require a face-to-face meeting and PayPal is not an option; but people inexplicably tend to become carefree.

SafeList plans to correct this disconnect by building an online Community where everyone's identity is verified, thus ensuring a safer marketplace.
