New Website

The first quarter of 2010 has been an exiting time for the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce San Diego. The goal for the first quarter was to create more value for our members, to elevate the quality of our events, and better our branding to the public. Several new initiatives have been implemented and SACC San Diego is excited to enter the second quarter with a fresh new outlook.

As of June 2010 our members and nonmembers will be able to access information about SACC San Diego through our new and improved website. The focus of the new website is to show what the chamber can do for you and your specific industry. To help our visitors navigate the website we added an industry portal consisting of four segments; high-tech, clean tech, biotech and life science, and business services and consumer products. In addition to the industry portal, calendar of event, newsletter, and information about our services, members of the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce will be provided a login that allows access to contact information, services, and discounts not available to the public or non-members.

On the website visitors can also learn about our latest initiative; the Member Service Desk, or as it’s often referred to MSD. The Member Service Desk can help you in establishing a new presence or in the expansion of your organization’s presence in Sweden; partner with Swedish organizations for franchising, licensing, strategic alliance, or joint venture; private equity investments, or to a Merger & Acquisition with a Swedish company.

The trainee program is another service the Member Service Desk can offer SACC San Diego members. SACC matches local San Diego businesses with highly qualified international young professionals in High Tech, Biotech, Finance, IT and many other business areas. As a designated sponsor of the U.S. Department of State’s Exchange Visitor Program, SACC San Diego’s parent organization in Washington DC supports SACC San Diego in offering this service which started in April 2010. The trainee program is a win-win situation for both the trainee and the hosting business. The Swedish trainee gains international work experience, understanding, and knowledge. The hosting business in turn receives a highly qualified employee with knowledge of the latest in Swedish technology and information. In a time when every penny counts, the trainee program will benefit both the host company and the trainee. 

One of the most important aspects of a chamber of commerce is to provide members and non-members with quality networking events. To further improve SACC San Diego’s networking events the chamber has made a clear distinction between social- and business mixers. In 2010, SACC San Diego introduced a series of networking events focusing on the relationship between Europe and the US. The European-American Business Mixers are collaborations between the German, French, Danish, and Swedish Chambers of Commerce. Our latest Euro Mixer was held on May 11, (To read more about this event, click here) .

The quarterly mixer is another new initiative from SACC San Diego. The first event will be a luncheon held at the Woodfin Hotel on May 28. As an alternative to the evening network mixers, our quarterly mixers will be a luncheon or breakfast meeting. The keynote speaker of the first quarterly mixer is Rikard Steiber, Global Ads Marketing Director of Google, who is responsible for the launch and marketing of Google’s advertising products.

The regular monthly SACC San Diego mixer will continue on the 2^rd Thursday of every month. To bring more value to our members, the monthly business mixers will now be geared toward a certain industry and hosted in collaboration with one of our many members. For example; the April monthly business mixer was co-hosted with NanoTechNexus and March’s with EcoHub and StartUp Circle.

With the launch of SACC San Diego’s new website and our effort to continuously improve our services, we hope our members and friends will enjoy the implemented changes.
