Through the Mentorship Program, SACC San Diego links aspiring entrepreneurs and knowledgeable professionals.
Mentees get a chance to learn from a professional who has extensive experience in their particular field of expertise. A mentor can teach the mentee how to cope with challenges in the work place, how to make the most out of their careers, as well as realizing business ideas and goals. The relationship benefits both parties in such areas such as personal growth, career development, lifestyle enhancement, goal achievement and other fields of interest agreed upon by the mentor and mentee.
The relationship will primarily focus on interpersonal support, career guidance, exchange of industry, knowledge and experience, sharing of wisdom, coaching and role modeling.

”I am a big supporter of the SACC San Diego Mentorship program. It gives me an opportunity to meet with motivated students and young professionals and share my knowledge and experience to guide and support their growth as future business leaders. I believe in mentorship programs as it is a rewarding process for both the mentor and the mentee.”

former Executive Vice President of Motorola

“This is an excellent program, always very much appreciated by all participants. I’ve found the mentoring role very stimulating. Sharing your experience and knowledge with young people in the very beginning of their professional career can be very rewarding for both individuals. I highly recommend the SACC mentoring program.”
Åke Persson,
former President of Ericsson San Diego

“I met my future boss through the close collaboration between the Consulate of Sweden and SACC. I was also involved in SACC’s mentorship program in 2006 which got me interested and involved in San Diego’s business community.”

The next Mentorship Program is scheduled to start in February 2012. There will be a kick-off event held at Country Inn & Suites, 5975 Lusk Boulevard, on February 21, where all Mentors and Mentees will meet each other and mingle. After the event SACC San Diego will pair one of the students with one of the many successful members of the Chamber.
Mentors and mentees will meet around six times during a semester. The first meeting will characteristically focus on an introduction of mentor, and the second on the mentee. The remaining meeting will be utilized to discuss areas of special interest.
To be a part of the Program, both the Mentor and Mentee needs to be a part of the Chamber of Commerce. The cost for an individual membership is $80 per year, but for students this membership cost is only $20 per year. The Program itself, however, is of no cost to the student.
We truly believe this is a great opportunity for both Mentors and Mentees and we look forward to your applications!
